More than 130 ladies dressed in their best to enjoy fine food and wine while watching the Oaks Day racing from Flemington on the big screen.
The Fashions on the Field was successfully conducted, with prizes awarded to the women who dressed to impress, sponsored by popular Corowa ladies clothing store Shine.
The best dressed lady was awarded to Gena Bednarski, with Joy Knight being the runner up.
A group of women, who have been attending since 2005, also returned once again collectively dressed in a floral theme.
Seated on the balcony with sweeping views of the award-winning golf course, the ladies recounted the fun of attending the event each year.
“We’ve named ourselves the floral fillies this year,” group member Sandra Johnstone said.
“We’ve been attending the Oaks Day luncheon since the beginning however we only started doing themes in the last five years.
“Last year the theme was glitz and bling and we’ve also done vintage, black and white, and Winx.
“Half the fun is planning the theme. It’s an exiting day and we look forward to it every year.”
The event, now in its 16th year, was deemed a great success by organiser Kerryn Alexander.
“After the year we had with Covid, it was a fantastic feeling to be able to get dressed up and come out and enjoy the company of friends,” Ms Alexander said.
“It’s become quite the tradition for ladies in Corowa and surrounds.
“The canapes and two course meal catered by Corowa Golf Club was scrumptious and we cannot thank the staff enough.
“Everyone looked glamourous and thoroughly enjoyed the day. Thank you to our MC Gavin King, and everyone who attended and made it a fantastic day for all. We look forward to doing it all again next year.”
