The small yet significant service was delivered by the School Captains Harper and Zoe and Vice Captains Jai and Ruby.
It is the second year in a row the students have marked the occasion at the cenotaph with Principal Joshua Reid praising the students.
“At Wahgunyah Primary School we are extremely passionate about our school values which flow into everything we do. Showing respect is extremely important to us and there is no greater occasion to show respect than Remembrance Day,” Mr Reid said.
“Last year, COVID presented us with the opportunity to do something different for Remembrance Day. In collaboration with some of our passionate community members, our school is proud to be part of a new tradition in our township where we all come together at the Wahgunyah Cenotaph for the special ceremony, led by our four captains.
“I believe it is so very important for our young people to understand the story of the people who came before them. To understand where they come from and the stories that shape our identity as Wahgunyah townspeople.
“I am extremely proud of all our students, particularly our four captains who have really stepped up to lead the service over the past two years. Our future is in good hands.”
Wahgunyah local Alan Pleitner also praised the students for leading a moving ceremony.
