Blighty netball report

By Deniliquin Pastoral Times

It was a mixed bag for Blighty’s netballers after taking on Berrigan on their home court in round five of the Picola & District League season on Saturday.

The Redeyes managed one win from their three scored games, with the Under 15s victorious against the Saints.

It was a windy game day which made it difficult to stay focused, however all the Blighty girls played a strong consistent game.

The under 15s tried to mix it up with a lot of position changes.

This gave the girls an opportunity to find their strengths in different areas.

Well done girls, for standing up to the challenge.

Final score: Blighty 27 def Berrigan 18.

Awards: Jessica Hanmer.

Under 13s:

As good as a win! The girls moved the ball beautifully and gave the shooters many opportunities.

Chelsea Singleton provided drive from defence and Katya Eddy is an exciting new player.

Both girls went home with awards this week.

Final score: Blighty 14 lt Berrigan 17.

Under 17s:

All the girls played a great game.

Bridie Blake dominated in GA and defence stayed strong all game.

It was an amazing effort by all.

Final score: Blighty 29 lt Berrigan 64.

Awards: Zara Macdonald and Jasmine Ackers.

Under 11s:

It was a freezing cold morning for the young girls.

Ruby Pisasale played a great game in defence.

The girls showed lots of improvements.

Thank you to the Blighty girls who filled in for Berrigan so everyone could have a go; that showed great sportsmanship.
