Their rehearsals have definitely been the start of something new as they carve up their school's hall in preparation.
Director Helen Fontana said the choice of musical was an easy one and a good chance for them to be all in this together.
"It was a bit of a popular choice among the kids," she said.
"There are a lot of kids with creative talents in different areas and they don't always get a chance to express that.
"Especially as they get into the older year levels and they're not actually following the drama course, this gives them the opportunity to come out and shine."
Senior students Johanna Ritchie and Ethan O'Brian will take on the roles of Gabriella Montez and Troy Bolton and they're what we've been looking for.
"It's been a great chance to meet new people and it's just been an overall good experience," Ethan said.
"It's been a challenge to learn my lines and sing, dance and act all at the same time," Johanna said.
So for those that don't want to stick to the status quo and break free, this is the show for you.
You'll have to get'cha head in the game and support these young thespians.
The students will perform High School Musical at the Paramount Theatre on Friday, August 16 at 7pm and Saturday, August 17 for a matinee show at 1pm and a 7pm show.
