Finley has advanced through the next steps of officially becoming a dementia friendly community.Making Finley a dementia friendly community is an ongoing project being supported by Berrigan Shire Council, Finley Regional Care and the Finley Dementia Alliance Group. The most recent phase saw 15 members of the community complete an online training course at TAFE NSW Finley campus.Finley TAFE services coordinator Nola Pinnuck said she sees enormous potential in becoming a dementia friendly town, and was pleased Finley TAFE could play a role in it.‘‘TAFE New South Wales Finley was very proud to be able to offer our site for this important training,’’ she said.‘‘We provided our community with the technology and teachers to support learners in completing the training.‘‘The short course involved completing a fifteen minute online training entitled Dementia Friends.’’The 15 members of the course were supported by Finley TAFE educators Leonie Francis and Richard King. For more information about the Finley Dementia Alliance Group, contact Finley TAFE.
