Demons celebrate Best and Fairest winners

Jerilderie Football Club has rewarded the efforts of its junior footballers by presenting Best and Fairest awards for the 2020 Picola & District League season.The awards were presented to players who polled the most votes in the thirds (Under 17s) and fourths (Under 14s).Zander Nash was declared the Under 17s best and fairest, followed by runner-up Brad Aylett.The rising star award was presented to Ben Coghill, best finals player to Rory Knight and best first year player to Brad Norton.The thirds were coached to a premiership winning season by Carson Thomas and Blair Henery, defeating a previously undefeated Berrigan by 19 points in the decider.Taking out the top honours for the fourths was Ben Kennedy, followed by Nicola Di Lullo. Tyler Hall was awarded most improved, Tex Flack the most determined and Logan Eldridge received the coach’s award.The fourths were coached by Ben Neessen and Glen Di Lullo, with their only win of the season coming against eventual premier Berrigan.President Dean Knight said all players deserved their awards.‘‘It was a special season, especially for out Under 17s for winning a premiership,’’ he said.‘‘Every player did such a great job, we could have handed out 23 awards.‘‘I congratulate Zander Nash and Ben Kennedy for receiving the top honours in very strong and hard working sides.‘‘I thank all our volunteers, coaches and supporters for a great season,’’ Knight said.
