The site was recognised for its quality of cheese, and was awarded a trophy for highest scoring cheddar cheese, as well as three golds and nine silvers for its cheddar cheese varieties.
Fonterra regional operations manager – north, Steve Taylor, said these awards confirmed the quality of Fonterra’s dairy foods made in Stanhope, and the quality milk produced by farmers in the region.
“It’s fantastic that our skilled teams have been recognised for their expert craft and the quality cheese they produce,” Mr Taylor said.
“Stanhope is known as the town of the tastiest cheese, and we’re extremely proud of the great cheese we make and are grateful this has been recognised by experts in the industry.
“We’ve got some of the best dairy know-how in the business, which is the key to making great-tasting, quality dairy foods Australians love.
“Congratulations to our people who strive to maintain the highest quality dairy, and our dedicated farmers who supply us with the best milk for the job.”The awards are hosted annually by DIAA and act as a gateway to the Australian Grand Dairy Awards.
Entries are judged on technical merit by industry experts selected for their specific dairy product knowledge.
