Resting on laurels after celebrating 40 years of breeding Limousin cattle is not an option for John and Bev McIntyre as they prepare for Beef Week this year.

John and Bev run Chateau Limousin with their son and daughter-in-law Andrew and Jenna, who are helping the family prepare also for their milestone 10th year open day on their Londrigan property on Tuesday, January 30, with a follow-up on-property sale in March.
The family said it was looking forward to hosting visitors to inspect its sires on offer which will feature black, polled and the traditional French pure Limousin.
Cow-and-calf and joined heifers will also be on display and will be offered at this year’s Limousin National Show and Sale on Friday, April 19 at the Holbrook sports ground in NSW.
To match an industry now benefiting from new technologies and breeding data, the stud is implementing DNA testing and using BREEDPLAN in combination with international and domestic sires.
The family’s philosophy of breeding cattle which are easy to handle and are free moving, coupled with having soft hair and skin type, results in its herd’s quality.
Their bull draft will see at the lead end several sires which characterise calving ease, for joining with young females.
High-growth and big weight-gain bulls will also be available for those wanting to target top-class vealers.
In addition to the Beef Week open day, visitors are always welcome to meet the McIntyre family by appointment and inspect its stock on offer.
The open day on Tuesday, January 30 begins at 1pm; the on-property sale will be on Thursday, March 7.
Both will be held at 1090 Wangaratta-Eldorado Rd, Londrigan.
