With global oil prices down and petrol selling for less than a dollar at some metropolitan outlets, locals are paying an average $1.37 per litre (at the time of writing) according to motormouth.com.au.
In Shepparton, you can fill your tank for $1.20 a litre, while Bendigo residents are paying just $1.25.
Meanwhile Melbourne's drivers are paying $1.27 - and keeping a sharp eye out for those spectacular 89 cent deals popping up in the past few weeks.
And like many locals AJ Johns is sick of the Echuca tax.
"It's ridiculous how much we pay for fuel," he said.
"Echuca is the worst place in Victoria for the price difference in my opinion. But unfortunately you need to put fuel in your car.
"I was in Lockington the other day and people there were paying just $1.20.
"And then I've had family in Geelong tell me it costs them between 99 cents and $1.10.
"I try to fill up my car in other places when I have the chance because it is always cheaper for me."
Meanwhile the RACV's senior vehicle engineer Nicholas Platt said prices were falling consistently across the state.
"This is an unprecedented fall in wholesale prices; the lowest RACV has seen in its more than 16 years of fuel price records," she said.
"Fuel prices in regional areas are dropping to reflect the low wholesale price, whereas Melbourne is generally following a cycle based on competition between fuel retailers.
"Regional retailers are reacting far quicker to the wholesale price fall than their metropolitan counterparts, who are seeking to cover their overheads through margin, rather than volume.
"A consistently low price would be ideal for motorists in this uncertain time as it can discourage people from traveling further than necessary to find cheaper fuel.
"RACV is advising to check the RACV website before filling up to ensure drivers are finding the cheapest fuel locally and reminding motorists to restrict travel as much as possible."
