Last week, the sweets store donated more than $1000 worth of chocolate to the hospital in a bid to cheer up those people who needed it most.
Store owner Heather Wells said with the shop closed to the public, her and husband Ken were determined to spread the joy.
“We thought the hospital would be a good starting point to donate some of the chocolate,” she said.
“Like everyone, you never want to see chocolate go to waste, especially at Easter time.
“Some patients couldn’t see their family at the weekend, so we wanted to put a smile on their face.
“And the staff are working extremely hard through this tough time, so they do deserve the reward.
“It certainly gives you a good feeling when you are able to help people out.”
Echuca Heritage Sweet Company has been open in the twin towns for about 23 years and Heather admitted coronavirus had provided one of their greatest challenges.
“Right now, is a difficult time for everyone in the community,” she said.
“But it’s important for us to stay positive and work through this together.”
