The musical was originally going to be held in June but it was re-scheduled to October after restrictions came into effect.
Secretary Lesley Summers said the committee had been patiently waiting to make a decision on the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic and the effect it would have on the show.
“We had planned to re-schedule for October this year, hoping that restrictions would have eased by then,” she said.
“But it became clear during late June that this was probably not going to be possible as the current situation is too unstable and we could not continue to keep our cast in limbo with future plans.
“We felt it was only fair to give the cast and crew some definite information about the future of the show.
“In consultation with the cast and as a result of our latest monthly committee meeting, it was decided to cancel 2020 altogether and continue planning for June 2021.
“We are hopeful our cast will still be available to continue in their roles next year, however any roles that become vacant will be opened for audition.”
Mrs Summers said while bookings for the Paramount Theatre for 2021 were not open yet, the committee had tentative dates for June next year.
“In the meantime, we are considering the possibility of a play early in 2021, depending on the outcome of our current situation,” she said.
