CAMPASPE Shire Council is set to receive $100,000 of funding from the Victorian Government to help with costs imposed by COVID-19 restrictions on public gatherings and workplaces.
The funding comes as part of the $3.8 million 2020 Rural Councils ICT Infrastructure Support Program, designed to make up for any losses taken as a result of being forced into remote working conditions to keep essential services running.
Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp said rural councils faced particular challenges meeting the costs of this work, with limited financial resources to fund the training, equipment and other ICT infrastructure required.
“Campaspe Shire Council has done fantastic work for its community throughout the pandemic and it’s great the state government has been able to support them in this way,” he said.
“As we move into recovery from the pandemic, Campaspe Shire will have an important role to play for our community and we’re making sure they have the tools they need to do the job.”
In addition to this funding, the Victorian Government has invested in a variety of local shovel-ready infrastructure projects to create local jobs and get on with works needed in the community.
