AFL Goulburn Murray will be walking to The Proclaimers’ famous karaoke hit in October as they take part in the Jodi Lee Foundation's 300k step challenge.
The foundation was established in 2010 by Nick Lee - a close friend of AFLGM commissioner Quentin Thomson - after the death of his wife Jodi from bowel cancer.
Usually, the foundation would have several events throughout the year to raise money but COVID-19 means they'll be heading online in 2020.
“Nick has done an amazing opportunity to get the foundation to where it is,” Mr Thomson said.
“We saw everything he went through but he just got back up and pushed on. It's a pleasure to see so many people getting involved in the event.
“Unfortunately a lot of people in the community are touched by cancer in one way or another during their life.
“While we want to raise as much money as possible, we think it's a good opportunity to encourage people to get out and exercise.”
Echuca's Trevor Mellington will be one of the representatives next month.
“I'm really looking forward to doing my part and raising as much money as possible,” he said.
“One of the best things is that you are able to do it in your own time and space.
“It's also a good way for our staff to stay connected when so many of us are working from home.
“Even during a difficult time it's nice to do something community minded.
“Bowel cancer is something which hits pretty close to home for me so I'll be doing my part.”
