Thank a Cop Day in Sunday

Border residents are much more likely than the rest of the country to have something to do with members of our police force this weekend as they show their border permits to come and go from state to state.

When you encounter our "boys and girls in blue" this weekend make sure to say a quick thank you, as part of Australian Police Week.

Police have had a significant presence in the community, particularly on the bridge, since the start of COVID-19 living conditions in March last year.

That is on top of their regular policing duties, which makes this year's Police Week even more significant for our Campaspe force members.

Sunday, in fact, is National Thank a Cop Day and officially kicks off the grassroots effort to recognise the work of our keepers of the peace.

Last year was the first attempt at Thank a Cop Day, but this year's event has several components and will begin with the Wall to Wall Ride to remember fallen members.

The National Police Bravery Awards will be announced as part of the week, on September 22. And National Police Remembrance Day rounds off the week of recognition.
