To make the vaccine more accessible, the clinic will hold an evening session next Tuesday, May 25 from 5pm to 7.30pm.
The vaccine is available to anyone in the community aged 18 and older.
“While it is understood there is some hesitancy to be vaccinated, at ERH we really encourage all adults to be vaccinated,” executive director of community services Cynthia Opie said.
“Particularly those considered ‘high risk’, including people with chronic conditions or over 50 years of age.
“It is important to remember it is common to react to any vaccine with mild symptoms of headache, muscle pain and mild fever, so it is a matter of weighing up the ‘risk’ versus the ‘benefit’.”
ERH has been vaccinating emergency service workers, including ambulance, police, State Emergency Service and Country Fire Authority officers since March 29.
“As the largest employer in Echuca-Moama, we are pleased to have vaccinated over 60 per cent of staff,” Ms Opie said.
ERH board member Sue Mulcahy visited the clinic on Tuesday, May 18 and encouraged the community to get the jab.
“Getting vaccinated is simply the right thing to do to help protect everyone in our community,” Ms Mulcahy said.
“It is also vital for our economy.
“We know from last year how quickly and easily COVID-19 can be spread and the devastating effect this had on our local tourism and hospitality industry and the flow on effects throughout all businesses.
“Getting vaccinated is our best defence in preventing community transmission and keeping people healthy and businesses trading.”
The vaccination clinic is open Monday to Thursday from 10am to noon and 1.30pm to 3pm.
The evening clinic will be held from next Tuesday, May 25 from 5pm to 7.30pm in the Malka Room.
Access to the clinic is via the main entrance to ERH on Service Street.
No appointment is necessary and Medicare cards are required.
