With less than three weeks until opening night, tickets are selling like hotcakes.
“More than 30 per cent of tickets have been sold which is just fantastic,” co-director Tricia Deakin said.
“Audiences are excited that community theatre has returned and they are in for a real treat with this play.”
A Better You, a comedy by Mark C Bourne, tells the story of a group of women who meet at a community hall each week.
Their usual leader is away, so she has organised a representative of “A Better You” self-help program to do a presentation.
Unfortunately for the already stressed-out guest speaker, the gossipy women have their own problems and are very easily distracted.
Things do not go according to plan for the self-help guru, who’s teetering on the edge of a nervous breakdown, and in the women’s misguided efforts to help, things go from bad to worse.
“We are so happy with how rehearsals are going. The cast members suit their characters perfectly,” co-director Lesley Robins said.
“It’s a lot of fun and we spend half the rehearsals in fits of laughter.”
The play will be performed from July 21 to 24 at Radcliffe’s.
Platters will be provided as part of the ticket price of $49 at the three evening and two matinee performances.
