The Echuca CFA brigade will be around town throughout the day, parking their truck, walking each street, and raising money.
Firefighter Lee Moylan said it’s hard work, but the whole team always looks forward to helping out.
“It’s a big day, and it’s so much walking, but it’s worth it for such a good cause,” she said.
“It’s great just knowing you’re doing it for a good cause, and seeing Echuca up there with the bigger towns on the tally board is always exciting. There’s so much camaraderie, and everyone’s really nice when you’re out and about.”
The community spirit part of the day is a really big part of it.
“Everyone comes out and wants to have a chat. Of course, everyone wants photos with the trucks, the kids that want to hop in. It’s a really good, fun day,” Ms Moylan said.
"It’s always good to give back to the community, which we do all the time, and we’ve got our juniors, and a few of them are coming in to help.”
The junior firefighters are the only people they’ve got coming for the day specifically.
“The bigger Echuca gets, the harder we have to work to get everywhere but it’s really great,” she said.
“We’ve even got the older firefighters that aren’t firefighters any more, coming in to help. It’s something for them to do and they love it.”
As well as the work Echuca will be doing on the day, Bamawm’s fire brigade will be tackling the local bush area. After, they will come into Echuca and help the local firies here.
Ms Moylan said it’s great to be able to work as a team to raise so much money.
“There just such a great spirit with everyone who helps out on the day and working together just makes it go so much better,” she said.
“I can’t wait for all of us to make this another great year.”
