It was quickly extinguished once CFA were on the scene.
A Benalla Police spokesperson said the fire was not being treated as suspicious.
Benalla CFA Captain, Charlie Sexton, said it was most likely the result of an electrical fault.

“In this case everything indicates it was an electrical fault, under the bonnet,” he said.
“When we get a call like this, the first thing to ensure is the crew that goes is appropriately trained for the task.
“Then it’s about community safety.”
To ensure the scene was safe for them to work on the fire, the CFA closed the road.
“The young fella who owns it had parked it in quite a safe position, but there were some cars driving around it,” Mr Sexton said.
“It took about three minutes to get it under control and safely contained.”
