Benalla Uniting Church’s annual fundraising event is just around the corner, and this year it has joined forces with local autism and mental health support service Brick by Brick.
The fête will take place at the Uniting Church on Carrier St on Saturday, October 4.
One of the highlights will be a scarecrow competition, with locals encouraged to vote for their favourite, for just $1 an entry.
However, this is just one of many entertaining attractions.
There will be the ever-popular stalls of books and toys, plants, jams, marmalades, cakes, jewellery, odds and ends, as well as two hundred bags of manure and mulch.
Esme and Nangi with Ariana, the Yarners’ Group scarecrow, which will be on display at the Uniting Church Spring Fête.
Music and face-painting is also on the agenda.
If you’re feeling peckish, you can grab a Devonshire tea or a barbecued sausage.
Another special attraction this year will be a Lego Spectacular put together by clients of Brick by Brick.
This will be a free show in the John Cooper Hall.
A Brick by Brick spokesperson said it is excited to be involved.
“As a local disability and mental health support service, Brick by Brick is all about connection, creativity, and community — values we proudly share with the Uniting Church,” the spokesperson said.
“This collaboration is a great opportunity to come together, celebrate inclusion and showcase the talents of our little community within this fantastic community event.
“Our Lego display will feature a few epic builds that have been put together by participants in our programs, highlighting the joy and therapeutic benefits of our hands-on and personal activity options.
“We’re thrilled to be part of this community event so we hope you will come along, say hello, check out some of our Lego and enjoy all of the amazing activities.”
All this is happening from 8.30am to noon on Saturday, October 4 at the Uniting Church on Carrier St, opposite Coles.
