The event also recognised justice and community services teacher Tarmi A’Vard as Teacher of the Year (runner-up), celebrating her outstanding contribution to vocational education.
Bendigo TAFE board chair Sharan Burrow said the nomination was a defining moment for the institute, which operates a campus in Echuca.
“This award celebrates excellence in training, leadership and most importantly creating opportunity and impact for communities and industry,” she said.
“From pioneering new programs to investing in regional and metropolitan communities, we’re proud to be driving innovation that strengthens Australia’s workforce and economy.”
The national nod follows back-to-back wins as Victoria’s Large Training Provider of the Year, with Ms A’Vard also selected as the state’s Teacher/Trainer of the Year in September.
In response to her national win, Ms A’Vard said her secret weapon was using her authenticity in the classroom and learning alongside her students.
“I am deeply honoured to be named runner-up at the Australian Training Awards,” she said.
“This acknowledgement speaks to the impact of vocational education and the dedication of the learners, colleagues and communities I am privileged to work alongside.”
Ms A’Vard brings over 20 years of experience from her field, and was recognised for her innovative, student-centred approach to justice and community services education.
Bendigo TAFE chief executive Laura Macpherson said the institute’s award was made possible by all educators, staff, students, communities and industry partners.
“Together, we’re building pathways that change lives and power Australia’s future,” she said.
