At Thursday’s jackpot pairs, there were 10 teams that won both games with the overall winners being Trevor Nagorcka and Bruce O’Neale (Rich River) with 2+17 by one shot from Peter and Chooka Tinning (Tongala) 2+16.
The best game outside the best two went to Trevor Rickard and Max Clifford with +11.
Don’t forget jackpot pairs will commence at 12.30pm from this week.
On Saturday, the club conducted an intra-club practice match in damp and cloudy conditions in preparation for the pennant season.
Two games of 10 ends were played and there was a good attendance.
Mid-week players also held a practice match on Friday for their season commencing on October 30.
Good bowling to all members for the coming season which is certainly going to be different given COVID-19 conditions.
Members are reminded that if you have to travel over the border on Saturday to allow time to ensure you arrive at your venue in sufficient time and your permit is current.
With only one division in mid-week pennant our two teams are drawn to play each other in the opening game.

Two rounds of the five-a-side competition have been completed with the three leading teams to that point being Roneys Rockets 10 (+13) followed by Dinsdale’s Darters 10 (+11) and Hicks Hurricanes 9(-2).
Shells Shooters, Daryls Dashers, Liddells Leopards and Trev’s Tornadoes make up the balance in that order.

Lockington
The women played triples at their weekly game of social bowls on Tuesday, favoured with ideal conditions.
The winning trio included Trish Jones, Denise Gilmore and Annette Brereton (s) in a polished display of bowls from all players.
On Wednesday, the final round of scrounge was conducted with another quality field of bowlers in attendance.
Seven rinks were in operation with the ever consistent Jim “Jimbo” Harris collecting the spoils on rink two scoring 47 points and finish ahead of Graham Turner on 45.
On the next-door rink, Tongala visitor Wayne Cowley was in slashing form to amass 50 points and win the moola from Fran Spiers (33 points).
It was a close game on rink four as Steve Peter tallied 53 points to take the cake ahead of Don Smith’s 49 points.
Club selector Kalvin Stout had the best score on rink six with an amazing 62 points while Ian Johnson finished second on 48 points.
The gun bowler from City of Echuca in Ivan Hicks negotiated another victory after finishing with a subdued 41 points closely followed by Owen “Smiley” McPhee, next best on 36 points.
There was champagne bowling on rink seven as Brian Kinnane was in stylish form to amass 54 points and win from a fast finishing Andy Harris on 51 points.
The final rink win was collected by the impressive Phillip Cunnington (another selector) after scoring 46 points while Neil Haines was ten points in arrears with 36 points to run second.
With the 60 and Over competition starting this week at City of Echuca, our club will stage a scrounge afternoon on a Tuesday at 2pm after the women have completed their social bowls.

On Friday morning, the women have introduced a friendly game of in-house pennant due to the CVBD mid-week pennant being cancelled.
There are four teams selected under the team names of Banksia, Waratah, Bottle Brush and Grevillia.
Names and numbers will decide the week-to-week competition.
On Friday, the Grevillia rink of T. Jones, M. Dowie, A. Haines and L. Chugg (s) scored a seven-shot victory over the Bottle Brush four in S. Harris, L. Brereton, L. Appleby and P. MacFarlane (s).
In the other match the Waratahs rink consisting of K. Tibbs, B. Mustey, D. Gilmore, A. Brereton (s) had a five-shot win against the Banksia rink comprising M. Thomas, M. Atkins, A. Lowrie and P. Humbert (s).
On Saturday, pennant practice was delayed due to the morning drizzle that fortunately cleared by 2pm.
In the heat of the battle the rink comprising P. Cunnington, J. Van Den Bosch, A. Harris and I. Johnson (s) defeated the equally high standard ability of A. Kauffman, S. Peter, R. Shawcross and J. Harris (s) 10-7 in a tight struggle.
There were only four doubles scored over 15 ends.
On the rink next door the team of B. Kinnane, L. McInnes and R. Hanson (s) defeated D. Thomas, O. McPhee, D. Gilmore and F Chugg (s) 15-6.
The final rink proved to be a victory for Don Smith, A. Haines and K. Stout (s) 17-6 over the team of L. Brereton, G. Shawcross and B Musgrove (s).
The past two weeks have been a good workout for the forthcoming CVBD Pennant season which starts on Saturday, October 31.

Rich River
After a period of uncertainty the 2020-21 CVBD Pennant season starts on Friday, October 30 for mid-week and Saturday, October 31 for the weekend competitions.
Our members are very enthusiastically looking forward to having a successful year.
There are a number of COVID-19 protocol guidelines that need to be observed during this season whilst playing at home greens, travelling to other venues, arriving at away venues and at all times maintaining social distancing separation requirements most importantly, and following the direction of COVID-19 marshalls as requested.
The order of play as set out by CVBD is displayed on the window of our bowls office along with a season draw for all divisions as no handbooks will be available for this year.
All members need to make themselves aware of their responsibilities in this regard.
Information that is pertinent to any changes, will be forwarded by email, Facebook or group text messaging as required.
Preparation for the pennants season was well attended on both Friday and Saturday last week with internal practice matches played and keenly contested.
Thursday of each week will become practice for the weekend players for the rest of the year.
A good turn-up of 44 bowlers competed in our Wednesday Jackpot Pairs on October 21.
There were five two game winners on the day.
