The Magpies have announced Brock Kennedy, who last played with Echuca in the Goulburn Valley League in 2019, will pull on the black and white for the upcoming season.
Kennedy will add plenty of experience to the club’s young midfield group which will include fellow new recruit Jye Warren.
Senior coach Luke Eldridge said Kennedy had already been a successful addition to the club.
“He’s been terrific in his first few weeks of pre-season,” Eldridge said.
“Brock is joining us as a senior assistant coach because he’s made it clear to us that he wants to eventually go down the coaching path.
“He’s an elite runner and knows the work rate required to play the top level.
“We’re going to lean on him for his experience because he has played in the VFL for Werribee.
“I think he compliments the arrival of Jye very nicely as well.”
Eldridge said a mutual connection played a big role in getting Kennedy across the Murray.
“He’s a teacher at St Joseph’s in Echuca and we’ve got a few other guys who are as well,” Eldridge said.
“Brock also wanted an opportunity to play with his mates and we’re glad we’ve been able to offer that to him.
“He’s had a year off now and got himself extremely fit. His goal is to get the best out of himself as a footballer.”
Moama will return to pre-season training on Monday, January 11.
