Another day, another adjustment to the date and time of the Murray River peak in Echuca Moama.
The Bureau of Meteorology at 3.56pm issued its latest warning for major flooding at Echuca Moama.
It says floodwaters from the Campaspe and Goulburn Rivers combined with flows down the Murray River have caused major flooding at Echuca and Moama.
River levels at Echuca Wharf have exceeded the October 1993 (94.77m AHD) and November 1975 (94.80m AHD) floods, and may peak slightly below 95m AHD during Tuesday, with major flooding.
As of 3pm Monday, the Murray River was 94.91m AHD in Echuca Moama despite persistent rain throughout the day.
“This morning we’ve seen it (the Murray) reach a level of 94.9m (AHD), which is what the Bureau has forecast as the potential peak,” SES chief officer operations Tim Wiebusch said.
“We might see a small rise above that, but again it is intended to stay steady at that level for several days before we start to see it receding in and around Echuca.”
Echuca received 34mm of rainfall in the 24 hours up to 9am on Monday, which followed totals of 10mm (up to 9am on Sunday) and 18mm (up to 9am on Saturday).
The BoM said as this flood peak extends downstream, it is likely to exacerbate the current major flooding at Torrumbarry and Barham, and cause addtional river level rises along the Murray River downstream of Barham.
Forecasts for Swan Hill and downstream will be refined once the upstream flood peaks along the Murray River and its tributaries are observed.
The BOM said further rainfall is forecast for the reminder of Monday through to Friday across parts of the Murray River Basin, which may cause renewed river level rises and flooding.
The situation is being closely monitored and revised predictions will be provided if necessary.
The Murray River at Torrumbarry Weir may peak around 7.85 metres over the weekend, with major flooding.
As of 4pm on Monday, the Murray at Torrumbarry was at 7.84m.
The Murray River at Barham may reach 6.20 metres during Tuesday, with major flooding.
The Edward River at Deniliquin may reach 8.50 metres during Wednesday with moderate flooding. This is similar to the October 1993 and October 2016 floods. Further rises are possible.
The Edward River at Stevens Weir Downstream may reach 6.50 metres around Thursday, with moderate flooding.
The Edward River at Moulamein may reach 5.70 metres early November with moderate flooding.
Campaspe Shire Council reported the section of Simmie Road from the Murray Valley Highway to the river has been closed.
This now means that Simmie Road is closed from the river all the way through to O'Dea Road.

- Cobb Highway (New Bridge) closed to all southbound traffic only from Meninya Street corner
- Meninya Street (Old Bridge), Local traffic only travelling southbound ***please speak with staff onsite if you need to travel across the bridge.
This has been enacted by Transport NSW to discourage any unnecessary travel.
