A virtual event was run in lieu of the in-person schedule, meaning participants could run or ride the distance of their event in a location of their choice.
Organiser Steven Fehring said many people chose to participate virtually, while others converted the cost of entering the event into a donation.
“A lot of people just donated their money to the hospital,” he said.
CDH director of clinical services Wendy Lunghusen thanked the Bridge to Bridge committee and wider community for its support.
“Funds raised will be utilised for patient care equipment upgrades, which enables our commitment to delivering high-quality local rural healthcare,” she said.
The event was cancelled in February, days before it was due to be held as organisers learned costs associated with traffic management had ballooned at the last minute.
It meant holding the event was no longer feasible, as the cost of running it would have equalled or surpassed the funds raised for donation.
Mr Fehring said he is currently looking at ways to make future Bridge to Bridge events a reality.
“We’re going to have some meetings this month and try to set up a new committee to hopefully make a plan of some options going forward,” he said.
