Carers connect at Roving Respite lunch

Carers from around the region came together for a day of relaxation and connection as part of Carers Victoria’s Roving Respite program.

Hosted at Radcliffe’s, Echuca, on Wednesday, December 3, the event was Carers Victoria’s first carers lunch held in the town.

The lunch saw about 47 attendees gather to chat with representatives from support services, network with other carers and to enjoy a free meal.

Regional customer service navigator Abbey Brown said Carers Victoria was keen to support more carers around the region.

“Carers Victoria are wanting to reach more carers ... the purpose of today (is) to connect, to gather and to understand that there are services and supports,” she said.

“The journey can be tricky and again the people in the room here today are here to support you with your needs and your support services.

“What's really nice for me about these events is reminding you that we're not alone, and that's the purpose of the day.”

Representatives from Carers Victoria were also joined by those from Carers Gateway, Services Australia, Bendigo Mental Health and Mental Health Wellbeing Connect Service.

The representatives socialised with carers, sharing information about the services and supports their organisations provide, while also taking the time to get to know local carers.
