The North East Sri Lankan Association is holding a Sinhala and Tamil new year celebration in Wangaratta this Saturday.

The event at the CWA hall and King George Gardens, from 10am to 3pm, will celebrate the start of the solar new year with traditional games, dancing, fun for all ages and a traditional Sri Lankan meal.
The cultures celebrated at this event are Avurudu from Sinhalese culture and Puthandu from Tamil culture.
There are various traditions and rituals observed in celebrating this festival by Tamils and Sinhalese.
All important aspects of these cultures associated with the new year celebration will be on display and shared with the broader community through this event.
There will be fun games for kids and a range of tantalising food available.
The event is supported by the Victorian Multicultural Commission.
