The real estate office has set up a Christmas tree where members of the public can drop off unwrapped presents for local families in need.
Century 21 Rich River Real Estate director Andrew Lochhead said the drive aimed to ensure all children could experience the joy of Christmas morning.
“Because a lot of families are doing it very tough and we just want to make sure that kids and families on Christmas morning can open presents and enjoy the day, like the rest of us, what most of us have the opportunity to do,” he said.
The office welcomes donations of any non-perishable toys for children of all ages, with the only requirement being that gifts remain unwrapped.
“This is so the Salvation Army can see what they are giving to, a gift for a boy or a girl and what age,” Mr Lochhead said.
Last year’s drive collected about 120 presents, and organisers are hoping to exceed that number this year.
“We would really like to get our toy drive out there and get as many presents for the Salvation Army as we can,” Mr Lochhead said.
The office encourages donors to participate in social media promotion to help spread awareness.
“We have been asking people if we can do a photo, to put up on social media and throw it out there as far as we can to help get as many presents as we possibly can,” Mr Lochhead said.
Suggestions for toys include plush and musical toys for children under three, dolls, action figures and pretend play sets for four- to seven-year-olds, LEGO and sports gear for eight- to 12-year-olds, and headphones or skin care gift packs for teens.
Every gift donated will help bring joy to local children this Christmas, no matter whether it is big or small.
Donations can be dropped off at Century 21 Rich River Real Estate, located at 509-511 High St, Echuca, until December 17. The office is open 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
