The event, held in March saw 16 teams attend to win the Corowa Services Bowls Club trophy with all proceeds from the day going towards purchasing Murray Cod and Golden Perch fingerlings to be released at various destinations along the Murray River within a 15km radius.
The Corowa Anglers Club was formed in 1982 by a group of keen fishermen, all of whom are strong advocates for catch and release fishing.
Since 1995 the anglers have released 194,000 Murray Cod and 407,000 Yellowbelly fingerlings into the river in order to ensure there will continue to be native fish in the waters for generations to come.
Corowa Anglers Club’s Peter Tidd thanked Club Corowa for their ongoing support of their efforts with Club Corowa CEO Peter Norris expressing the club’s pleasure in being able to do so.
“It’s great to see the tangible impact the Corowa Anglers Club is having in our community, and we are proud to support them in this important endeavour,” Mr Norris said.
“These ClubGRANTS are just one of the many ways The Corowa RSL Club is able to provide support, services, and facilities for the betterment of our local community.”
