Just two weeks out from the Echuca Moama Cycling Club reunion, she is nearing the end of her hunt for any piece of club history she can find.
And she has been stunned by the results.
‘‘It’s been amazing,’’ she said.
‘‘We occasionally find a new photo or an article that we can add, but the most exciting part is when you find a person who has been involved with the club at some stage.
‘‘We’ve tracked a few of them down and they have given us memorabilia to contribute to the collection.
‘‘I found a family where multiple people had been members at different stages and when I tracked them down, they donated some old club jerseys from the 1970s.
‘‘They’re horrible looking at them now, the colours are not great, but that was the style at the time and it’s fantastic to get to display them.’’
The colours may not have been ideal, but that wasn’t what Jeffreys cared about.
‘‘For me, it’s just exciting to be able to have the history of the club on display.’’
The club’s reunion will be held on April 13 at the Moama Velodrome and will include the introduction of an honour board, but the main event will be the incredible club history Jeffreys has amassed.
One of the more touching moments in her search came when inviting a former member to the event.
‘‘I sent an invite to a long time member and his wife contacted me,’’ she said.
‘‘He’d passed away, but she was able to give me a beautiful photo album from his time that I could use.
‘‘It’s quite emotional to have a story like that pop up, but it’s lovely to get some memories that people hold dear. It show’s how important the cycling club is to so many.’’
The day of the event will see not only the display of 100 years of history, but also the induction of some new club life members.
The reunion kicks off at 6pm and will coincide with the first race of the club’s winter season starting at 2pm.
