The days are getting shorter and the nights a little chilly, so it’s time to think about pulling out the winter woollies.

Instead of unearthing your beanies and scarves from last year, think about creating your own.
Campaspe Libraries staff are again inviting community members to enter their handiwork into the annual ‘Wrapped for Winter’ community exhibition.
The exhibition, to be held from June to July across all libraries, will feature handmade shawls and scarves — wearable items to wrap around for winter warmth — using yarn or textiles that can be crocheted, knitted, sewn or embellished, or by using any other crafty technique.
Campaspe Shire Mayor Daniel Mackrell said it was a fantastic opportunity for talented Campaspe residents to showcase their craft.
“There have been some truly amazing and intricate pieces submitted over the past two years since this exhibition began, so we are really excited to see what local craftspeople produce this year.’’
This year the exhibition includes ‘novelty knits’ and ‘creative crochet” items, adding a bit of fun into the display.
Entry is free and open now, until Monday, May 26. Submissions can be delivered to your closest Campaspe library branch or depot.
The exhibition will be open to the public at the various library locations during June and July.

Exhibition visitors will be invited to vote for People’s Choice awards and the lucky creator of the most popular item will receive a gift voucher to spend on more yarn and accessories.
Once the exhibition is closed, entrants will have the option to donate their submission to the Echuca-Moama Community Project’s Coat and Blanket Drive.
“It is heartwarming to see the impact that passion and community spirit can have and is a wonderful chance to assist those in need while engaging in activities you enjoy,’’ Cr Mackrell said.
