With several Do It For Dolly Day events held across the district, the fundraising out of this area is sure to amount to a decent total to support its programs.
Contributing significantly to the tally will be the donation from Nutrien Ag Solutions Deniliquin.
With the help of a generous community, it raised more than $11,000 for the anti-bullying foundation.
Nutrien real estate agent Jake Freshwater said the support from the community to their now annual Do It For Dolly Day breakfast on Friday was so strong, their three hour breakfast extended out to five hours.
“We had a huge result on the day. We were absolutely smashed and are quite chuffed with the support received from the community,” Mr Freshwater said.
“We cooked 25kg of bacon, more than 500 eggs and served more than 500 rolls.
“We ran the breakfast for an extra two hours as customers kept coming.
“The rain did not stop us or the community coming together to support Dolly’s Dream.
“We want to say a huge thank you to Deniliquin Party Hire for coming up with a marquee for us with extremely short notice to keep us dry in the rain
“The total amount raised was $11,324.30, with a massive thank you to Greg Rourke and the Deniliquin Rodeo Committee for their extremely generous donation of $1000.”
Mr Freshwater said a number of other businesses also assisted to make the day as successful as possible.
“John Allitt of Mokanger Butchers provided us with all of our bacon and eggs. We even had to go back three times to restock, and it was no trouble at all for John and his team.
“Deniliquin Baker’s Delight helped us out with hundreds of bread rolls.
“The Deniliquin Pastoral Times and 2QN & EdgeFM helped us get the word out there, and so did our friends and clients by sharing on social media.”
Dolly’s Dream was created by Kate and Tick Everett following the shattering loss of their 14 year-old daughter, Dolly, to suicide after ongoing bullying.
They want to change the culture of bullying by addressing the impact of bullying, anxiety, depression and youth suicide, through education and direct support to young people and families.
