The funding will help purchase new ski equipment for the club’s weekly ski school, including life jackets, ski pants, training skis, and embroidered items, ensuring participants have access to safe and modern gear that meets current standards.
The Boat Club plays an important role in the community, offering a safe and inclusive space for children and adults to learn to ski, stay active, and enjoy the Edward River.
The project also supports families who may not have access to reliable ski gear, promotes healthy outdoor activity and community connection, and keeps investment local through a partnership with Deni Clothing Co.
Boat Club secretary Deb MacKnight expressed her gratitude to council, saying the club was thrilled to receive the support.
“We’re very thankful to council for considering us for the grant,” she said.
“The funding will go directly towards our Ski School and help us continue providing Ski training and water safety experience for the community.”
Council commended the club’s volunteers and committee members for their dedication to safety, wellbeing, and environmental stewardship.

The Community Grants Program opens annually, usually in July, and offers up to $3,000 to support local not-for-profit groups working to benefit the Edward River community.
