As part of the festival, everyone is invited to a free, family-friendly market day featuring local food and beverage producers on Sunday, September 7, from 9am to 1pm.
Local food producers will showcase their produce and products with food available, tastings and plenty of opportunities to meet the makers of our fabulous regional produce.
Having taken part in a similar event in 2024, Shebani’s Catering co-owner Faye Shebani was more than happy to take part in the Sunday market day.
“We're well known in Echuca after having a cafe here for nine years, and after we sold that three years ago, we kept our condiments,” she said.
“We make Turkish red sauce, a Moroccan tomato jam, have a plum and cinnamon jam and all that sort of thing.”
Ms Shebani said their dukkah was one of their most popular items.
“Even though preserves are not the main thing we do now, the showcase allows us to talk to people about what we do,” she said.
Shebani’s Catering’s primary focus is providing catering options for all event sizes, utilising fresh, flavourful ingredients and authentic Mediterranean cooking techniques.
Other producers who you will find at the free family market day include Lisadurne Olive Oil, Camel Milk Co, Long Road Olive Co-op, My Dad’s Honey, Pacdon Pork, Coffee Cart, How Now Dairy, The Olde Creamery, Nashi Juice and Wine, Zankers Farm, TT Harvest, Domaine Asmara and Quincy Jones Jelly.
Tickets are still available for Saturday at the Spirit on the Murray Festival, which showcases Victoria's craft distilling industry, bringing together 25 distilleries from across the state for an afternoon of tastings and masterclasses.
“We've got Rakia from Nubilum Distilling, schnapps from Schnapps Idea and many things that people have never tried before and are probably unlikely to see unless they go seeking it,” Echuca Distillery head distiller Peter De Vries, who is helping pull the festival together, said.
Before the first session on Saturday, a special masterclass will feature industry leaders including James McPherson from JimmyRum Distillery, Holly Klintworth from Bass & Flinders Distillery and Leigh Attwood from Backwoods Distilling. It will be moderated by Good Measure founder, author and Vermouth producer Shaun Byrne.
Distillers from Saturday will also be at the Sunday market day for tastings and sales, including Echuca Distillery’s David and Peter de Vries.
