Since Ms Walker's audition first went to air in July, which saw the singer turn all four judges’ chairs and later rack up more than 300,000 views on YouTube, she hasn't been able to wipe the smile off her face.
“Everyone has been very supportive and excited for me,” she said.
“I was rapt with how my audition went and how it was portrayed.
“Reading everyone's comments pushed me to release a full version of Down Under.”
To record the song, Ms Walker enlisted the help of music producer Benjamin McCarthy, who also mixed her first single, Little Girl.
“He does the whole she-bang and this song we only needed three drafts,” Ms Walker said of the process.
“I thought same deal, piano and vocals being the focus, but we'd make it a little bit more full.
“And of course, it would be a three-and-a-half-minute song, and not just the 90 seconds.”
Prior to her audition airing, Ms Walker released Little Girl, with the singer stoked by how that song had been received as well.
“I've been wanting to release music for a long time,” she said.
“I'm still learning about it all, and the Spotify algorithm is really in-depth.
“I'll get better at the whole marketing side the more songs I release, but I'm really stoked by how many streams it has.”
Though nervous ahead of its debut, Ms Walker encouraged everyone to have a listen to Down Under when it hit the streaming service.
“Everyone has been getting on board and pre-saving it,” she said.
“Add it to your playlists and let me know what you think.
“It's so nerve-wracking when it initially drops and you're waiting for people to see if it's okay.”
As for what the future holds, Ms Walker hopes to release another single before the end of the year, while also eyeing a return to the stage once restrictions allow.
“I'm hanging for a gig, though I'll be so rusty,” she said.
“Everyone (musicians) is feeling flat; I think a lot of songwriting is going on, but the need to perform is hard.
“We'll see what happens; the venues need to get back on their feet before live music can.”
