Only 354.4mm of rain fell for the entire year – 91.3mm less than the historical average taken over the past 29 years, and 206.7mm less than the historical average recorded between 1962 and 1996.
Three months — February, April and May — did not even make it into double figures with rainfall in 2025.
Summer
The year started off dry in Shepparton, with significantly less rainfall than usual in January.
January saw total rainfall of 20.4mm – down on the historical average of 34mm – with rain on only two days.
The total rainfall for February was a measly 3.2mm, significantly less than the historical average of 31.8mm over the past 29 years.
January was a sweltering month, with Shepparton recording an average daytime maximum temperature of 32.6°C, while February’s mean was 29.7°C.
The hottest summer day was on February 18 with a toasty 41.8°C, while the coldest day saw only 18.6°C on February 1.

Autumn
Shepparton’s autumn was notable for warm temperatures and a lack of rainfall.
March was the exception, with more rain than usual. A total of 58.4mm fell in 2025, compared to a historical average of 33.9mm.
The heaviest spell came in one day, with 26.8mm on March 21.
The average daytime temperature for the month was 30.9°C, well above the historical average of 27.7°C.
The hottest day was March 15, when the temperature reached 38.3°C.
April and May were a different story as far as rain was concerned.
Shepparton saw less than 2mm of rain in April, a far cry from the 35.8mm historical average.
Only 5.4mm was recorded in the rain gauge for the entire month of May, well down on the average of 34.3mm.
As for temperatures, Shepparton recorded an average daily maximum of 20.1°C, quite a bit higher than the historical average of 17.7°C for May.
Winter
It was a wet start to winter, with 54.4mm of rainfall in June, with rain recorded on 17 days.
While the rainfall was only 5.4mm more than usual for the month, rain fell on a lot more days than the usual 12.5.
July saw even more rain for Shepparton, with 64.6mm falling, exceeding the historical mean of 40.2mm.
August was a much drier than usual month though – with only 26.8mm falling, compared to the historical average of 26.8mm for the month.
The average night-time minimum temperature for July was 4°C, with the coldest night a freezing -1.4°C, and August recorded six nights under 0°C and another six under 1°C.
Spring
September was fairly normal temperature-wise, with an average daytime maximum of 18.5°C.
The October daytime temperatures were similar to usual, with a mean top temperature of 23°C, less than a degree hotter than average.
October’s hottest day saw a maximum of 32.5°C.
November’s warmest day was 33.8°C, with a mean maximum temperature of 24.7°C, below the historical average of 26.2°C.
The number of rainy days in November exceeded the usual number, with 12, but there was less rainfall in total from them, with 34.6mm of rain in 2025, compared to the historical average of 45.9mm.

December’s day and night-time temperatures were similar to usual, with a daytime average maximum of 29.7°C and a night-time minimum mean of 12.7°C.
However, Christmas Day this year was significantly cooler than usual, with the temperature reaching only 21.4°C.
The hottest day for the final month of the year was 41.8°C on December 18 while the coldest day was 18.6°C.
December saw total rainfall of 45mm, with 23.8mm of that falling on December 21.
