Driver charged over Echuca fatal crash

A man has been charged over a fatal crash that killed two people at Echuca on Sunday, January 14.

Police said it was believed a vehicle travelling along the Murray Valley Hwy left the roadway, struck a tree and caught fire near Mt Terrick Rd just after 12.30pm.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, a Moama woman, 26, and an Echuca boy, 11, died at the scene.

The 23-year-old man driving the car has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death.

He has been bailed to appear at Echuca Magistrates’ Court on January 23.
