Echuca Westpac branch avoids closure

Most branches are in metro areas.

Echuca is the only bank branch in the local area, with the nearest ATM in Mooroopna and nearest full branch in Shepparton.

A Westpac spokesperson said the decision was not taken lightly.

“We are currently in consultation with our people regarding branches in metro areas with low utilisation where there is a nearby branch within 5km and where customers are preferring the convenience and increased safety of contactless, cashless and digital channels,” they said.
