The library held an opening event on Monday, where community members attended to both see the exhibit, and hear personal stories about the stores and family from Henry Gillespie.
Genealogy Society president Val Hardman said she was delighted with the community response to all the hard work that went into putting the exhibition together.
Henry Gillespie said he was proud to share some anecdotes and stories of his family’s business.
“I’m very honoured; it’s quite emotional actually, and has brought back old memories,” he said.
“My family was a big part of the history of the town.”
The exhibition will remain open to the public in the Edward River Library until November 15, and there is a book in which visitors are welcome to enter any personal memories.
