Four-year-old Cavoodle Elsa is the school mascot and has been coming to school several days a week since she was a puppy.
However, since returning to school after being away in term one, the cuddly canine has been met with almost empty classrooms.
“This term during Covid19 state of emergency, Elsa has had a lot of freedom wandering in and through the classrooms,” owner and school principal Lyn Strachan said.
But Ms Strachan said her pet pooch would be even more excited to see the students once coronavirus restrictions were lifted.
“Elsa loves coming to school and enjoys the company of the students way more than the adults,” she said.
“She has the uncanny ability to sense big emotions in children and support them.
“I have been amazed how many times she has deescalated a situation just by being close and demanding a pat or walk.
She just lightens the mood, makes people smile and gives a little consistency in the school.
“Staff on duty may change each day, but Elsa makes her regular appearances looking for and giving love and attention.”
