People interested in the Rich River Rod Run are reminded to get their entry forms in, with the initial closing date this Friday, February 9.

“People are encouraged to have their forms filled out by this Friday, but we do accept entries until Febraury 23,” Rich River Rod and Custom president Daniel Arnold said.

“The people who enter after this Friday might just miss out on things like getting a T-shirt.”

The Rich River Rod Run, which will be held from March 15 to March 17, has delivered a higher-than-expected turnout this year.

“We hold it every second year, so when it comes around it’s a really, really good time,” Mr Arnold said.

“We’re about 30 per cent higher when it comes to entrants, so it is looking like we’re going to have a bigger event this time.”

As part of the rod run, there will be events for the next generation of car lovers.

“On the Sunday Family Fun Day, we showcase what we are passionate about to the public,” he said.

“We’ve got stuff for the kids to do. We’ve got trade stands and all the cars on display. It’s a really good, fun day.”

Mr Arnold said the event was a great way to get people to explore the region.

“It’s going to be great to bring a lot of people to our area, and hopefully we can showcase the Echuca-Moama region really well,” he said.

“On the Saturday night, we’ve invited the entrants who are visiting to go into town to explore.

“We’ll mainly be in the Port of Echuca area to help give back to the community in that aspect, through the eateries and restaurants.”

Mr Arnold said it was really lovely to see just how many people wanted to get involved.

“This is our hobby, this is our passion. And when you get the same people who enjoy that kind of thing together, it’s a really good environment,” he said.

“We’re one of the longest-running car shows of this kind in Victoria, so to have these numbers just shows that we are doing something right, and people do enjoy what we do.

“It’s really, really exciting to be able to give back to those people that have shown faith in us over the years.”
