The inaugural Kyabram Fauna Park Family Fun Weekend will run all day on Saturday and Sunday, with activities included free with park entry.
The young and not-so-young can have their faces painted, bounce on jumping castles or choose an airbrush tattoo. Plus, there are plenty of opportunities to learn more about the park’s resident wildlife with a super-sized keeper talk schedule.
Park acting director Paul Lavars said families far and wide were invited to enjoy the weekend festivities.
“We have something for the whole family,” Mr Lavars said.
“There are animal-themed jumping castles and a super-sized animal talk schedule where you can learn about our wildlife from the people who know and love them best — their keepers.
“Learn how Tasmanian devils communicate to each other, how we provide a stimulating environment for our reptiles and the cassowaries’ favourite food.”
The park is home to hundreds of animals across its 55 hectares of parkland and wetlands, including Tasmanian devils, quolls, dingoes, koalas, kangaroos, wombats, echidna, emus and southern cassowary.
A purpose-built reptile habitat opened this year, and a mob of meerkats can be seen as soon as visitors step in to the park’s dining and retail space.
The park is just a 30-minute drive from Echuca. It is open 10am to 5pm every day of the week. The Family Fun events run from 10am to 3pm.
Entry tickets can be bought at the park’s front entrance and Zoos Victoria members visit free.
