Moira FoodShare is ramping up its community appeal to reach its Mission 250 target, seeking more monthly donors to tackle food insecurity across northern Victoria.
The initiative, which kicked off in September 2024, has the goal of recruiting 250 local donors to contribute $10 monthly, establishing a sustainable $30,000 annual fund for food purchases.
So far, 128 community members have stepped up to support the cause.
“We're over halfway there, and the impact has already been incredible,” Moira FoodShare coordinator James Rouel said.
“But the reality is, food insecurity isn't slowing down – and neither can we.”
The organisation delivers vital food support to more than 4000 residents each month across 19 rural towns, providing essential relief to families, seniors, and children.
With donation and supply levels constantly changing, building a reliable base of local support is essential.
Community members can make a difference by signing up for a $10 monthly donation through the Moira FoodShare website, encouraging others to join the cause, and spreading awareness via Facebook and Instagram.
