A timber sign honouring Kyabram historian Frank Tobias was officially unveiled at the Transport Through Time building in the Kyabram Historical Society Complex at the Kyabram Fauna Park last month.

The sign is in honour of Mr Tobias’s contribution to the Kyabram Historical Society, especially in restoring and donating Willie Gee’s 1927 Capitol Chevrolet van.

During a period of 30 years, Mr Tobias spent about 400 hours and $3500 in materials and parts completing what he described as a “labour of love”.

Clive Toms (president) and Fraser Williams (vice-president and foundation member of the Kyabram Historical Society) spoke fondly of Mr Tobias’s association and dedication to the preservation of the history of Kyabram.

They said he often bought unusual objects to a meeting to see if they knew what they were and always had a “trick of some kind up his sleeve”.
