Her Mental Health Matters (2025-2028) is a bold, place-based initiative that aligns with the Victorian Government’s Wellbeing in Victoria: A Strategy to Promote Good Mental Health 2025-2035.
This strategy, the first of its kind for the region, highlights the urgent need to address gendered barriers to wellbeing and outlines the collaborative efforts needed by organisations and communities to drive meaningful, inclusive change.
The strategy will be released during a webinar event held on Thursday, September 18, featuring guest speakers from Mind Australia, Women with Disabilities Victoria and the Loddon Mallee Public Health Unit.
As part of the event, a panel discussion will explore various approaches to improve women’s mental health, focusing on building community connections and inclusion, removing barriers to support, and providing women and girls with the tools and information they need to thrive.
‘’When women, girls and gender diverse people thrive, their communities thrive too,’’ Women’s Health Loddon Mallee chief executive Kellie Dunn said.
“Local women’s voices, experiences and wisdom are central to this strategy informing and guiding our advocacy work and key priorities to enhance mental health and wellbeing outcomes.”
The strategy outlines five key priorities:
- Enhancing local evidence to inform policy and practice.
- Strengthening community connections to build social capital.
- Addressing barriers to support through inclusive service design.
- Empowering individuals to protect and improve their wellbeing.
- Embedding mental health in community settings
