Putting the finishing touches on their Remembrance Day service run sheet, members of the Kyabram RSL gathered at the bench placed in the Memorial Gardens on Allan St for a photo with the Free Press.
While he wouldn’t reveal the donor’s identity, RSL secretary and treasurer Bob Stone explained the bench was inspired by one spotted in Tasmania, with the donor wanting to bring this meaningful tribute to their beloved home town.
The dedicated six-month project was carefully planned to ensure the bench would be ready for this significant Remembrance Day on November 11.
“It’s a pretty awesome donation, and we’re incredibly grateful to our donator,” Mr Stone said.
Remembrance Day service
Kyabram’s Remembrance Day service will kick off at 10.50am at the Memorial Gardens to honour armed force members who have died in the line of duty.
Mr Stone said the service would be like previous years, with Campaspe Salvation Army majors Greg and Lynne Turnbull being guest speakers for the day.
The service is open to the public, and anyone who wishes can lay a wreath.
