A fresh indie folk music festival will debut at Moama’s historic Perricoota Station on November 8, showcasing a lineup of Australia’s finest contemporary folk talent.

The first-ever Get Folk’d festival will be headlined by indie folk artist Kim Churchill, alongside a stellar lineup featuring JC and the Tree, Jack Raymond, Tom Harrington, Saije, Kane Vincent and The Wildlings.
Shepparton-born Tom Harrington, who has been traversing Australia in his van, is thrilled about performing close to his roots.
“I’m spending a bit of time, because I grew up in Shepparton, so Get Folk’d is the closest I’ve played to home in a long time,” he said.
The contemporary folk artist, known for his live vocal looping techniques, will release his debut album in February.
“It is quite contemporary folk. Singer-songwriter, but I do a lot of live vocal looping and things. It is a lot bigger sound than just one person and a guitar,” he said.
“My set is quite dynamic, there are lots of sing-alongs, fun and very heartfelt storytelling all intertwined.”
Festival-goers can expect spontaneous collaborations throughout the day.
“I reckon the whole day will probably be different acts, kind of just jumping up and jamming out with each other. We are all good mates,” Tom said.
“It is the essence of folk for people, who just pull up an instrument and jam out, and I think this vessel, the Get Folk’d festival, will actually capture it super well.
“They have picked a great lineup to do that.”
The festival is the brainchild of Echuca Moama Entertainment creative producer Ashley Scurrah, who recognised an opportunity in the market.
“I saw a need to create an indie songwriter folk festival that was more for the modern-age indie songwriters out there,” he said.
“We have got that cheeky name, Get Folk’d, which is not to be rude, but cheeky, and also stands out in the folk scene, as it is not quite traditional folk.
“Get Folk’d is more indie songwriter folk, modern and we wanted to create a home for those artists as a festival for Australia that stands out.”
Tom Harrington, a Shepparton-born artist known for his live vocal looping techniques, is excited to perform close to his home town and will be releasing his debut album in February.

The event will run from 2pm to 10.30pm at Perricoota Station, 183 Perricoota Forest Rd, Moama.
Due to the location and limited car parking, except for those requiring accessible parking, buses are available to Perricoota Station from 479 High St, Echuca, and 6 Meninya St, Moama, departing from 12.30pm on the day.
Bus passes must be purchased before November 1.
