The assessment was conducted over three days in April this year to assess the quality of care and services provided against the Aged Care Quality Standards.
The facility met all 42 standards with no recommendations, receiving the full three-year accreditation.
“Once again the kindness, compassion and dedication of the entire nursing and corporate team was recognised by our auditors both from their discussions with residents and family members, and from their own observation,” nursing director aged care services Darren Clark said.
“It was wonderful recognition for the amazing work of the entire team, who work tirelessly day in, day out to ensure that each individual resident is not only provided with quality care and services, but also a quality life whilst residing in our facility.”
The assessors reported that residents and families confirmed they were included in all decisions about their care, treated with kindness and respect, felt safe and kept informed about any changes and supported to participate in a range of fun activities within the home and the broader community.
The recent deadline for the residential aged care staff COVID-19 vaccine mandate on September 16 was also no issue for the facility, with 100 per cent of nursing staff fully vaccinated.
All of the 59 residents at the facility have received their first dose, with only four newly admitted individuals yet to receive both doses.
“It has been extremely pleasing for us that a large majority of our staff came forward for vaccination prior to the National Cabinet’s decision to mandate COVID-19 vaccinations for all residential aged care workers,” Mr Clark said.
“It has made our task easy to comply with the direction that workers must have had their first vaccination no later than September 16.”
All visiting corporate services, maintenance, allied health, education and nursing administration staff have also received their first dose, with six per cent waiting for their second.
“Staff and visiting health professionals, resident representatives and contractors recognise the vulnerability of this group and are doing all they can to keep our residents safe,” Mr Clark said.
