Monday’s event at Numurkah Golf Club saw 112 players enjoy the summer conditions.

This was also the third and final round of the district championships sponsored by Goulburn Murray Credit Union and the results of the championship will be announced at the Christmas break-up at Mooroopna.

The course was, as always, in excellent condition.

To prolong the suspense of the championship result, Monday’s scores are reported only as Stableford points.

Winner in A grade with 39 points was our hard working vice-captain John McHale of Valley View, from runner-up Vincent Chan of Shepparton with 38.

Winner in B grade was Bruce Morris, Mooroopna, 39, on a countback from Bernard O’Hare of Nathalia.

Winner in C grade was Phil Cooper, Parkland, 41, from Tony Papallo, Kialla, 40.

Tony obviously likes the course at Numurkah because he was also runner-up at the corresponding event in 2018.

Nearest-the-pin was contested on the short 120m 18th green with Ron Nicholls (new member) successful in A-grade; Alby Seenan, Nagambie, took out B grade and Phil Cooper, Mooroopna, C grade.

Better performers and golf ball winners included: Allan Newby, John Keller, Gary Bow, Ron Smith, Peter Curtis, Tom McConchie, John Fanning, William Green, Neville Boswell, Syd Roughsedge, Dennis Koik, Barry Williams, Rolf Weber, David Fullager, Neville Larson, Laurie Stewart, Kevin Taylor, Bill Padget, Ray Gourlay, Garry Baker, Les Hall, Tom Martin, Maurice Webb, Ian Scurrah, James Miller, John Burrows, Laurie Hughes and Geoff Squires.

Remember that there is an early tee time and assemble time is 8:30am for the Christmas event on Monday December 2 at Mooroopna, in line with our heat policy and to provide more time to enjoy the special lunch.

The lunch and game fee has been set at $25.

Membership cards for the 2020 season will also be available at Mooroopna for a contribution of $20.

Please come prepared with the correct cash.
