Volunteer grants available to eligible Echuca-Moama organisations

MORE than $130,000 in volunteer grants is available in Nicholls this year and organisations are encouraged to submit an expression of interest by April 16.

Grants of between $1000 and $5000 are available for eligible, non-for-profit community groups, to support the vital work of volunteers.

Federal Member for Nicholls Damian Drum said he was liaising with community leaders and relevant committees to identify priority volunteer support for the local area.

“Volunteers across Nicholls freely give their time to support local organisations in a variety of ways, making an extraordinary contribution to our community along the way,” he said.

The grants will assist volunteers and volunteer groups with the purchase of equipment, by reimbursing fuel, transport or training costs, or supporting promotional activities.

Organisations must be nominated by their Federal Member of Parliament and meet the eligibility criteria.

The Department of Social Services will then send an application form to nominated organisations to apply for funding in May. Successful applicants will be announced in November.
