Inspired by her mother, Brooke Dixon, who shaved her head for the World’s Greatest Shave before undergoing brain surgery, Ms Dixon said she had been planning to do the big chop for the last two years.
“For about two years I’ve been saying ‘I’m going to do it’,” she said.
“And then I thought ‘I’m just going to pick a date and go for it’.”
Ms Dixon said both businesses she works at ‒ OPT Nightclub and Good Start Early Learning Moama ‒ provided a lot of fundraising support.
“The children at Good Start Moama made cupcakes to help me reach my target,” she said.
Aiming to raise $2000 for World’s Greatest Shave, Ms Dixon has already counted $3500, and still has collection tins she placed at local business to count.
“I’m still counting the tins, but I think I’ve raised close to $4000,” she said.
“The support I got was amazing.”
Ms Dixon thanked all her supporters, including Noel’s Quality Meats Moama, Moama Bakery, High St Barber, and Bamawm Extension Fire Brigade.
“A massive thank you to my family who have been my number one supporters, and all the help on the day,” she said.
“It’s been a big year trying to organise this.”
Ms Dixon’s hair donation will be made into a wig to be given to someone undergoing cancer treatment.
